Information you choose to send

The public website does not contain a contact form, newsletter signup or reader account system. If you email William, the information you provide may include your name, email address, organisation and anything you choose to include in your message.

This information is used to read and respond to your enquiry, manage professional correspondence, arrange events or opportunities, and keep an appropriate record of discussions. The usual lawful basis is legitimate interests in managing correspondence and the author’s work. Where a message concerns a proposed agreement, processing may also be necessary to take steps before entering into a contract.

How long messages are kept

Ordinary enquiries are normally retained for no longer than two years after the last meaningful contact. Messages connected to an ongoing professional relationship, publishing matter, rights discussion, transaction or legal requirement may be kept for longer where reasonably necessary.

Cookies

The public website does not currently use analytics, advertising, personalisation or social-media tracking cookies. Simply following a link to Amazon, Goodreads, Instagram, Facebook or X does not place those services’ cookies through this website; their own policies apply once you visit them.

If non-essential cookies, analytics or embedded third-party media are added in future, this notice and the site’s consent controls will be updated before those technologies are enabled.

Sharing and international processing

Information is not sold. It may be processed by service providers needed to operate the website and email service, or shared where required by law. Some service providers may process information outside the United Kingdom and use their own legal safeguards for international transfers.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to ask for access to your personal information, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or an objection to its use.
